The Covenant of Mayors in Sweden

In Sweden, 49 out of 290 local governments (i.e. 17 %), ranging from the capital Stockholm to small municipalities, have signed the Covenant of Mayors.

Klimatkommunerna is the only Swedish supporting structure today, and thanks to financial aid from Sveriges Kommuner och Landsting (the association for Swedish Local and Regional Governments) we can support the Swedish Covenant of Mayors signatories with a helpdesk function, online tools, seminars, etc.

Covenant of Mayors Club Sweden

The Covenant of Mayors Club Sweden is currently being formed. The aim is to include elected representatives of the first six Swedish Covenant of Mayors signatories, and then gradually expand to more participants. Covenant of Mayors Club Sweden will be launched during spring 2012.

Covenant of Mayors Platform Sweden

Civil servants in Swedish signatory cities and representatives of national agencies, NGOs, etc. can meet in the national networking platform and get support from Klimatkommunerna and each other on issues related to the Covenant of Mayors, emissions inventories, etc.

The Swedish Covenant of Mayors networking platform was launched on the 1st of December 2011 in Stockholm. The participating local government representatives discussed the role and activities of the platform, had thematic discussions and planned for future cooperation.
