Croatian Covenant Club

The Covenant of Mayors Croatian Club was launched on the 5th April 2011 in the Zagreb Old City Hall, on the initiative of the City of Zagreb, during Zagreb Energy Week 2011.

Objectives of the Croatian Covenant Club:

  • Promote the Covenant of Mayors initiative and its benefits among the Croatian municipalities;
  • Achieve the objectives set by European Union for the year 2020 – reduce CO2 emissions by at least 20 percent through the implementation of Sustainable Energy Action Plans of the cities;
  • Ensure that committed Croatian local authorities exchange experience among themselves both from political and practical points of view;
  • Help the Croatian municipalities achieve their commitment to the Covenant of Mayors.

  • Kastav.

Besides, for technical support and the successful realisation of commitments from the Covenant of Mayors, five Croatian energy agencies also joined the Club: North-West Croatia Regional Energy Agency, Energy Agency of Međimurje, Regional Energy Agency of Istra, Regional Energy Agency of Kvarner and Regional Energy Agency North.
