Catalan Covenant of Mayors Club

The Catalan Covenant Club was created in December 2013. Its existence was approved during the fourth Steering Committee of the Network of Cities and Towns towards Sustainabilty - the network is a Covenant Supporter since 2012.

The four Catalan provincial councils (Barcelona, Girona, Lleida and Tarragona) and the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona -all of them Covenant of Mayors Coordinators in Catalonia - have created the Coordination Comission of the Catalonian Covenant Club in February 2014.
The Covenant Club aims to act as a "lobby" concerning the EU energy efficiency and climate change mitigation and adaptation.

The Network of Cities and Towns towards Sustainabilty commemorated the fifth anniversary of the approval of the first Action Plan for Sustainable Energy in Catalonia.
The Assembly of the Network of Cities and Towns Towards Sustainability, held in Vilanova i la Geltrú, attracted about 150 representatives of local authorities. Among the agreements, there was the Declaration of Vilanova for adaptation to climate change in the region, especially in the coastal towns, and the Agreement for a Step Forward in the Covenant of Mayors Strategy.
The Catalan Covenant Club was presented and the Covenant Club Roadmap was approved. Download the Roadmap document (in catalan language) here.

The Covenant of Mayors in Catalonia will keep up its activities to grow the network with local autorithies, regional governments, financial sector, energy stakeholders, universities and research centers, professional associations.
