3 major events for the Bulgarian Covenant Club

In a very busy month of September, the EcoEnergy Municipal Energy Efficiency Network is organising three events in different Bulgarian cities together with prominent members of the Bulgarian Covenant Club.

The first of them is a workshop in Sofia on the 18th September for three of the most active municipalities in the area of sustainable energy development – the capital of the country, Burgas and Gabrovo. The meeting produced significant results and knowledge sharing experiences, as Burgas is already working on its Sustainable Energy Action Plan (SEAP), Sofia is at the final stages of preparation of its Action Plan, and Gabrovo as one of the oldest and most active members of EcoEnergy provides the experience of nearly two decades of successful energy efficiency projects. An other similar meeting has been organised on the 20th September with representatives of Varna Municipality.

The second meeting took place place in the city of Dobrich – also a CoM signatory with an approved SEAP and a very active and successful EcoEnergy member. Targeting municipalities in Northern Bulgaria, the meeting was during the annual Energy Day on the 21th of September (also a part of the European Mobility Week). It gathered some of the key actors in the area, at the same time saving valuable resources for local authorities in one of the less developed EU regions.

Last but not least, EcoEnergy will participate in the organisation of the conference of the Bulgarian Energy Agencies on the 27th of September. It will take place during the Days of the Green Energy at the International Fair in Plovdiv: the oldest and most established technical and industrial event on the national level, covering all key sectors of Bulgarian economy. As a meeting point for business and local actors from all over the country, it is specifically important for municipalities from Southern Bulgaria, as it provides a lot of networking opportunities – which is also the focal point of the NET-COM initiative.

These three events are as many occasions to present and strengthen the Bulgarian Covenant Club and will pave the way for one of the most expected event at the end of the year: the announcement and public presentation of the SEAP of Sofia at the end of November.
